Corporate sustainability starts with a company’s value system to doing business. To our belief such a value system should ensure that the company meets its fundamental social and ecological responsibilities.
The UN Global Compact is a non-binding United Nations pact which encourages businesses to establish such a value system. For this purpose it provides primarily a framework for businesses, which states ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
We fully support these principles. Therefore BARBE Beteiligungen GmbH has applied for becoming a member of the United Nations Global Compact and has been added to the register of participants on December 11, 2018. We thereby commit to adopt the principles and to report on their implementation. Our "letter of commitment" is linked on our participant's page on the website of UN Global Compact.
By incorporating the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact into our strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity, we will not only uphold our basic social and ecological responsibilities, but also set the stage for the long-term continuation of our success.
We want to ensure to enact the same values and principles wherever we have a presence. We will work on the implementation in all operating subsidiaries throughout 2019.
We have developed our own basic principles, which we want to consider in everything we do:
CUSTOMERS Our customers are in the focus of our efforts. They shall be able to rely on our competence, quickness and helpfulness. Towards our customers we commit to honesty, integrity and fairness. This, in turn, we expect from our suppliers and their employees.
QUALITY Highest target is an uncompromising product and service quality. This includes the manufacture of products according to specification and compliance with agreed delivery dates. By recognizing the requirements and understanding of the expectations of our customers we can offer appropriate product solutions.
EMPLOYEES We always treat each other with dignity and respect and do not tolerate any kind of harassment or discrimination. We protect the health of our employees by preventing work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses with appropriate actions. We respect the personal privacy of our employees.
ENVIRONMENT Via the efficiency of our products we want to protect the environment, by reducing the use of resources and the volume of transport. Therefore we also include sustainability aspects into our procurement activities.
We as a company we want to fulfil our ecological and social responsibilities. Our business activities shall be sustainable. To achieve this goal we follow our own sustainability management system, whose quality has been confirmed by EcoVadis. We achieved 62 of 100 possible points as a result of this assessment in January 2019, and been awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis. This achievement ranks us in the top five percent of all assessments undertaken by EcoVadis.
